Unpaid host beta

Turn an available Mac into a controlled render host.

RenderMac's host model is built around explicit enrollment, least-privilege job claims, heartbeats, leases, thermal pause signals, and a provider dashboard - not an exposed remote desktop.

Unpaid beta: host testers volunteer organization-private capacity. No wages, credits, reimbursements, earnings, or payouts accrue, and testing creates no future compensation entitlement.

What the host agent must do

Pair once

Use a one-use, time-limited enrollment code generated for the provider organization.

Claim safely

Accept only service IDs and input contracts that the control plane authorizes.

Heartbeat

Report liveness, capacity, slots, software version, and thermal state.

Pause or drain

Stop claiming new work when a Mac is hot, offline, manually paused, or being maintained.

Why a Mac mini?

Apple Silicon can fit media pipelines that benefit from Mac-native codec paths and a compact, power-efficient host. The right workload depends on codec, resolution, concurrency, storage, network, and thermal conditions; beta capacity is for testing rather than earnings.
