Terms of Service
1.Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of RenderMac's API, buyer console, provider agent software ("RenderMac Host"), admin tools, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by RenderMac ("RenderMac," "we," "us"). By creating an organization, calling the API with an API key, registering a webhook endpoint, or installing and pairing RenderMac Host on a Mac, you ("Customer," "you") agree to these Terms. If you are entering these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
RenderMac currently operates as an experimental, unpaid beta (see status.rendermac.com for current service availability). Self-service buyer and host-tester signup is available. The Service is provided as-is, without a service-level commitment, and beta functionality, data, and availability may change or be discontinued.
2.Description of the Service
RenderMac is a marketplace connecting two roles:
- Beta buyers and developers submit named, schema-validated rendering/media jobs (for example
ffmpeg.stitch_export.v1,ffmpeg.transcode.v1,remotion.render.v1) through the RenderMac API. Eligible beta usage is free. - Host testers voluntarily run the RenderMac Host agent on Apple Silicon Mac hardware they own or control and opt in to specific named services. Host testing is unpaid during this beta.
RenderMac verifies committed job output (byte count, SHA-256 digest, and container/media-format validity at minimum, with probabilistic re-render sampling for higher-assurance verification tiers). Verification does not create a buyer charge or host-tester payment during the unpaid beta.
Job estimates returned by POST /v1/jobs/estimate are non-binding forecasts of timing and available capacity. Eligible beta accounts receive a $0 fee waiver; any unwaived commercial quote or balance shown by an unsupported or administrative surface is not payable unless you separately accept future commercial terms.
3.Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. Each organization is identified by API keys and, for providers, a per-device credential issued during pairing. You are responsible for safeguarding API keys, admin bearer tokens, webhook signing secrets, and device credentials, and for all activity that occurs under them. Notify support@rendermac.com immediately of any suspected compromise so the affected credential can be rotated or revoked.
4.Buyer Terms
As a buyer, you represent and warrant that:
- You own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and consents to submit the input media, captions, project files, and any other content you send to the Service ("Job Content"), and to receive, use, and redistribute the resulting output.
- Job Content and its resulting use will comply with the Acceptable Use Policy, including the absolute prohibition on child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, and content that infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
- You will not attempt to probe, disable, or circumvent the isolation, verification, fencing (device/job/attempt/epoch/commit-token), or rate-limiting mechanisms that protect other buyers' and providers' data and capacity.
You retain all right, title, and interest in your Job Content and in the output artifacts produced from it. RenderMac's processing of Job Content is solely to perform the requested job and, where applicable, to comply with the retention/verification obligations described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
5.Fees, Billing & Prepaid Balance
Eligible beta buyer usage is free: no card, prepaid top-up, minimum job fee, hold, capture, or amount due is required. The API may continue to express commercial pricing fields in integer USD micros for compatibility, but the beta fee waiver makes the payable amount $0.
RenderMac may later offer paid plans. A future commercial program will require separate, conspicuous notice and acceptance before charging a buyer. Joining or using this beta does not authorize future charges and does not create any retroactive payment obligation.
6.Bring-Your-Own-Bucket (BYOB) Storage
Customers may configure their own S3-compatible bucket (Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, or another S3-compatible provider) as the source and/or destination for job artifacts. You are solely responsible for that bucket's access policy, lifecycle rules, and any costs charged by your storage provider. RenderMac encrypts the secret access key you provide (AES-256-GCM, at rest) and uses it solely to generate time-limited presigned URLs for your own jobs; RenderMac never displays or exports your secret access key back to you or any third party after it is stored.
7.Webhooks & API Access
You may register webhook endpoints to receive job lifecycle events. RenderMac signs every webhook delivery (HMAC-SHA256 over the timestamp and exact request body) and rejects redirects, private/loopback addresses, and non-HTTPS endpoints as delivery targets. You are responsible for validating the signature on receipt, responding within a reasonable time, and keeping your endpoint available; deliveries that exhaust the retry schedule are recorded and may be inspected or manually requeued through the API or the admin console.
8.Provider Terms
Host testers are voluntary, unpaid participants operating hardware they own or control. Running RenderMac Host does not create employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, or an independent-contractor engagement. You control when your device is available and may pause, unpair, or leave the beta at any time.
The beta provides no wages, salary, fees, credits, reimbursements, earnings, or payouts, including for electricity, bandwidth, storage, wear, time, or completed jobs. Participation creates no retroactive entitlement. Any future compensated host program will have separate terms and will require your affirmative enrollment before compensated work begins.
Counsel review flag: the independent-contractor characterization above should be reviewed against the jurisdiction(s) where individual providers are located before onboarding providers in any state or country with heightened worker-classification scrutiny (e.g. California AB5-style tests).
9.Content, Conduct & the Acceptable Use Policy
Use of the Service is additionally governed by the Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Violations may result in job cancellation, account suspension, termination, forfeiture of any pending payout, and - for child sexual abuse material or other content RenderMac is legally obligated to report - referral to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or other appropriate law enforcement authority.
10.Intellectual Property
RenderMac retains all right, title, and interest in the Service itself: the API, SDKs, RenderMac Host application, admin console, brand, and underlying software, exclusive of your Job Content. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights in RenderMac's trademarks, logos, or brand assets except as necessary to reference the Service by name (e.g., in your own integration documentation).
11.Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability & Indemnification
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RENDERMAC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. RENDERMAC DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY GIVEN JOB WILL COMPLETE WITHIN A PARTICULAR TIME; ESTIMATES AND ETA BANDS RETURNED BY THE API ARE FORECASTS, NOT COMMITMENTS, UNLESS A SEPARATE WRITTEN SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT SAYS OTHERWISE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RENDERMAC'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID RENDERMAC IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100. NEITHER PARTY WILL BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
You agree to indemnify and hold RenderMac harmless from claims arising from your Job Content, your violation of the Acceptable Use Policy, or your breach of these Terms.
12.Dispute Resolution & Arbitration
Counsel review pending - placeholder governing-law/arbitration clause below is a common SaaS default, not yet confirmed against the residency of RenderMac's actual buyer/provider base. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute not resolved informally within 30 days of written notice will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, and both parties waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action, except where such waiver is unenforceable under applicable law.
13.Term, Suspension & Termination
Either party may terminate an account at any time. RenderMac may suspend or terminate access immediately for a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy or where continued access would expose RenderMac, other customers, or host testers to legal or security risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) survive.
14.General Provisions
RenderMac may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where practical, notice via the registered organization contact. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and - for customers who execute one - the Data Processing Addendum, constitute the entire agreement between you and RenderMac regarding the Service.
