An Apple Silicon render farm is a pool of Mac computers that execute media jobs through an API. The useful version is not “SSH into a Mac mini.” It is a service catalog with quotes, leases, heartbeats, verification, and short-lived artifact URLs.
What buyers submit
Named services such as ffmpeg.stitch_export.v1, ffmpeg.transcode.v1, caption burn-in, audio mix, or Remotion frame-range shards. Each service has a strict input schema and a capacity quote before funding.
What hosts run
A RenderMac agent pairs once, claims only authorized work, heartbeats thermal and slot state, and can pause or drain. Public marketplace earnings stay gated until isolation and payments evidence exists; private-first-party and organization-private cells come first.
