Short definitions for the words RenderMac uses in docs, bakeoffs, and buyer/host pages — so SEO pages and engineers share one vocabulary.
Control-plane terms
- Service ID — Named workload contract such as
remotion.render.v1orffmpeg.stitch_export.v1. - Estimate / quote — Pre-create price and ETA band for a specific service, pool, and input shape. Beta buyer fee ceiling is $0.
- Idempotency key — Client key that makes create-job retries safe. See idempotent media jobs.
- Lease — Time-bounded claim of host capacity for a job phase.
- Pool — Capacity class (private_first_party, org_private; public remains gated). Private pools guide.
- Webhook — Signed terminal/progress delivery to your backend. Webhooks explained.
- Artifact — Verified output object with checksum/content-type checks before publish.
Bakeoff labels
- MEASURED — Finished wall-clock or $ from a completed run.
- PROJECTED — Linear scale from progress% or duration ratio; verify later.
- ABS package Wh — SoC package energy during the job; not wall-outlet; idle not subtracted when idle samples are missing.
- Rate-card estimate — Published cloud list prices × runtime; not an invoice.
