Problem / solution
Video work that wants macOS, not a generic Linux shape.
Many media pipelines stall on cloud containers that lack VideoToolbox, struggle with Remotion Chromium on tiny vCPU shapes, or force you to operate your own Macs. Apple Silicon is not automatically cheaper on electricity; it is often the right execution environment for Mac-native media.
What the 2026-07-22 bakeoffs showed
- Remotion on M2 Max / M1 Air beat small Cloudflare Containers shapes on wall-clock for the compositions we ran.
- VideoToolbox encodes are a Mac-native advantage versus a 0.5 vCPU x264 container in that test.
- Package power on M2 Max Remotion was tens of watts; LongKinetic20m was about 5.4 Wh absolute package energy. Electricity is not the pricing floor.
- We do not claim a single Mac beats Remotion Lambda fan-out in all cases. Read Apple Silicon vs Lambda.
Product implication
RenderMac exposes named services on private Apple Silicon capacity so buyers can rent the environment without inventing a fleet ops team on day one. Start at the buyer hub.
