Buyer FAQ

Buyer questions for the free beta.

Short answers for developers, video SaaS teams, and buyers evaluating RenderMac during the unpaid beta stage.

Is the buyer beta really free?

Yes. Developers and buyers can use available beta capacity with a $0 fee ceiling. Capacity is limited, features may change, and there is no production SLA.

Do I need a credit card?

No payment step is required for the current beta signup flow.

What can I render?

The beta is aimed at bounded media services: Remotion-class renders, FFmpeg stitch/transcode/caption work, VideoToolbox-oriented encodes, and similar video automation jobs.

Can any buyer use any unpaid host yet?

Only through the explicit unpaid shared_beta tester pool. Organization-private pairing stays private to that org, and the legacy open public marketplace pool remains disabled.

Can MP4 or other media inputs be risky?

Yes. Media files are parsed by complex codecs and containers, so RenderMac treats them as untrusted inputs. The current beta emphasizes typed jobs, private/org capacity, artifact checks, and clear boundaries rather than arbitrary shell execution.

How do I integrate without polling forever?

Use idempotent job creation, signed webhooks for terminal events, and user-triggered refresh as a fallback. Avoid busy background polling in your own app; if you must poll, use timeout, cancellation, capped exponential backoff, and jitter.

What happens after beta?

Future paid pricing would be introduced separately. The current buyer beta does not create a prepaid balance, rate-card promise, or production SLA.
